Sharifah Redan PhD Candidate
Navigating Professional PoliticsSharifah Redan is a PhD candidate with Crafting Resilience. Sharifah's research looks at how community-based youth workers in Dutch neighborhoods strive for social justice by establishing practices that meet the wishes and needs of young people in their environment. By studying youth workers’ pedagogical relationship building, motivations, the structures they choose for their practices and how they relate to (local) institutions, Sharifah aims to learn more about processes of politicization in social work.
Before starting her PhD, Sharifah's work experience (LAKS, NJi, Inholland Youth and Society) centered on youth participation, youth advocacy and questions surrounding diversity and inclusion in youth policy. Sharifah obtained her MSc degree in pedagogical sciences at Utrecht University (2018).
