Marcel Spierts Senior Researcher, Community of Practice Coordinator

Marcel Spierts is a Dutch sociologist and anthropologist who has made significant contributions to the field of sociology and anthropology in the Netherlands. He is currently a professor at the University of Amsterdam, where he has been teaching since 2000. 

He received his PhD in sociology from the University of Amsterdam in 1998 and has since published numerous books and articles on topics such as social stratification, social networks, and cultural diversity. His research focuses on the intersection between culture, power, and identity in contemporary societies.
